In is part of the cycle of life, and in the world today, something that children should be aware of. Age appropriate conversations should be had.

I agree that it is incredibly important to help children understand death and loss, as it is part of our lives, whether it is the large scale terrible things such as the school shooting, or something smaller like the death of a pet. It is in their best interest that you teach them the truth and make them know that what they feel is okay, and that encouraging them to safely share their feelings will spare them so much fear, heart ache and confusion.; December 18, 2012 at 8:49 PM
